Newsletter – November 2024

Dear Coaches,

As we come together in our diverse community of seasoned and new members, I invite you to reflect on your journey: What inspired you to become a coach? Revisiting our motivations can reignite the passion that brought us to this meaningful path.

Over the past 30 months as an ICF HK Board Member, I often reflect on my own transformative journey. My path began in 2018, feeling unfulfilled in finance. Initially, I viewed coaching as a way to prepare for a purposeful retirement. However, the challenges of the pandemic pushed me to embrace coaching with greater urgency.

Starting my coaching business was both exciting and daunting. While financial obstacles led me back to full-time work, my commitment to coaching remained steadfast. In July 2022, after adapting to my new role, I explored becoming an ICF HK Board Member. For the first six months, I focused on Thought Leadership, and at the beginning of 2023, I was thrilled to see the creation of new work streams, including Social Impact.

Today, I’m incredibly proud of our Social Impact initiatives, partnering with NGOs in Hong Kong through the Ignite ICF Foundation. The dedication of coaches volunteering their time and expertise to create meaningful change is truly inspiring. Watching our coaches evolve into lead roles has been a highlight. Our top priority is ensuring they receive the recognition they deserve. We have an exciting event this month to celebrate these achievements, made possible by the collective efforts of our Board Members.

Thank you for being an essential part of our vibrant community. Together, let’s continue to inspire and uplift one another on our coaching journeys. I encourage you to share your stories and reflections. Every step we take, no matter how small, contributes to a larger impact.

Keep shining,

Shiela Cancino
